We captured hours of footage, thanks to MiguelCruz.com, while recording at The Soundhouse in Redding, CA. This song started in January 2010 when my son, Judah, was playing on my hammer dulcimer and plucked the melody of the intro part of the song. The notes he played moved me and I took note. In October 2010 we were in the studio and Seth Carlson wrote the Celtic jig. The first and last half of the song remind me of running an emotional marathon with a nice stop off at an Irish pub to hang with friends before finishing the marathon (Pheidippides-Style).

Finishing Up New Instrumental Record "Thin Places"
Garrett Viggers - Friday, November 12, 2010
It's been a busy season putting this record together. It's come a long way in the past three months. Seth Carlson and I have co-written and arranged seven original tunes and we are covering three tunes. We have so many amazing instruments on this record, including uilleann pipes, harp, cello, violin...It's been fun to let the hammer dulcimer find a new voice in these songs.
This is a Promo Video for the Record Release. It will be at the Cascade Theatre on Wednesday, December 8th. 5:30pm & 8:00pm. You can download the full version of this song Marathon Man (Judah's Jig). It's got a sweet jig half-way through the song.

Recording with Brian and Jenn Johnson of Bethel Church

This was an intimate/acoustic DVD/CD worship project that I had the opportunity to sit in on a few tunes. It happened to be the same day that the Rich Mullins' recording of Creed with Third Day and Brandon Heath took place. Good day!
Hope you enjoy the video.

My bride and I had the opportunity to go to Greece, Turkey and Italy for three weeks as part of my Masters Program at St. Stephen's University in New Brunswick. I couldn't help myself from riding this sweet camel in the hills of Cappadocia.

Hi friends,
My first blog is not coming to you with dulcimers and harmonic rhythms, rather with a peak into my little patio project that turned into much more than that. I was drinking coffee this morning with my bride on the patio talking about how my love for life, family, and the patio seemed to fade by the third day of patio construction. I didn't know what I was getting in to. Why do I always do this? It seems like a pattern repeated again and agin over the years. It even reminds me of demolishing the kitchen in our old house and thinking that I could actually remodel a kitchen from the bare studs...that was brutal. Anyways, as you can see by the pictures, we made it through this valley and new mountain top in one piece.
